Continuous Improvement Coordinator

This is a Contract position in Fort Mcmurray, AB posted January 12, 2022.

The Opportunity:

As a Continuous Improvement (CI) Coordinator in Mining, your key role is to ensure adherence and execute continuous improvement activities to meet site and provincial safety standards, and engage and interact with all parties (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and contractors), to execute continuous improvement strategies on time and on budget. You will develop competency in Lean Six Sigma to solve problems efficiently and effectively, act as a change agent to motivate team members, be proactive in process improvement, and seek out continuous improvement strategies and opportunities within the business unit.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership and ensure guidelines and Canadian Natural policies and procedures are followed through worksite presence and regular field audits. The position expectation is 50% field time and 50% office time.
  • Assist with the development of future employees in the Lean Six Sigma process
  • Contribute to reliability and technical discussions in order to highlight potential risks
  • Under the guidance of the CI Lead, create and implement the continuous improvement strategy to support operational production plans and equipment availability
  • Assist the Lead, Continuous Improvement in creating budget forecasts for continuous improvement

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
  • Eligible for relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray, Alberta pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Policy
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: 4×3 – Monday through Thursday, inclusive
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary education is ideal
  • Lean Six Sigma is preferred
  • Demonstrated achievements and experience in technical, operational, or business fields
  • Experience in field operations or maintenance in the Oil and Gas or Oil Sands sector (preferred)
  • Experience in Excel, Word, and Outlook, Microsoft Projects, Sigma Flow, Insight (preferred)

Successful Applicants must provide acceptable evidence of being fully immunized against COVID−19 (two doses of Health Canada approved two-dose COVID−19 vaccine, plus 14 days after your second vaccination or one dose of an approved single-dose COVID-19 vaccine plus 14 days) before a start date can be set.
