Control Systems Engineer

Canadian Natural Resources Limited

This is a Contract position in Fort Mcmurray, AB posted May 23, 2023.

The Opportunity:

Join our team at Albian! As a valuable member of the Control Systems Team, you will report to the Control Systems Lead and be responsible to provide regular support in the area of advanced process control, process modelling and operator training simulators.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your assigned upgrading process control areas using advanced process control techniques
  • Implement and maintain basic, intermediate and advanced level process control strategies and controllers
  • Assist in the simulation, modeling and optimization studies of the units
  • Work closely with end-users and train on the effective use of systems
  • Generate ideas for improvement projects, including measurement of benefits and development of project cost/benefit analysis
  • Maintain existing Operator Training simulator using UniSim Operations/UniSim Design

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Albian site
  • Shift schedule: 4×3, M-Th, 10Hr
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s relocation policy

Skills & Qualifications:

  • An Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls Engineering degree or Engineering Technology Diploma in related disciplines (Process Control, Instrumentation, Electrical/Computer, Petroleum, Chemical)
  • 10+ years related industry experience (DCS, SIS, SCADA, PLC, Process Control)
  • 5+ years of hands on experience with RMPTCT/DMC/PACE is essential
  • Registered or eligible for registration as Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • Full lifecycle experience in implementing APC projects from concept, design, commissioning and providing training is essential
  • Hands on experience with distributed control systems (Honeywell, Foxboro) is essential
  • Experience in developing advanced analyzer model and maintaining them
