Mine Projects & Costing EIT

The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about leading Mine Projects at a world class oil sands mining facility?  We are currently looking for a Projects & Costing Engineer-In-Training (EIT) to join our Mine Projects team supporting Albian Mine Operations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your proficiency by leading the development and delivery of mine projects at Albian Sands mine operations. The Projects & Costing EIT role is responsible for supporting a wide variety of infrastructure projects critical to mine development including haul roads, dewatering systems, drilling, communications infrastructure and other heavy civil construction projects. Additionally, the role supports the budget development and project controls for projects across the mining portfolio.  You will work closely with a wide variety of stakeholders across the technical disciplines and mine operations.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and maintain the Mine Operations Projects budgets and provide regular  forecast updates
• Support Mine Operations Projects, Drilling, and Dewatering teams for project controls work including material procurement, logistics, and onboarding
• Evaluate the costs and benefits of projects and write AFEs for managerial review
• Participate in design review, optimization, and leading request-for-proposals (RFPs) from third party vendors
• Coordinate the participation of various stakeholders: Mine Operations & Maintenance, Technical Services, Regulatory & Environment
• Communicate with leadership and finance and regulatory teams

• Job location: Albian Oil Sands – Fort McMurray, Alberta
• Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off – Monday to Thursday, 10 hour days
• Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy

Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Mining, Geotechnical, or Civil Engineering
• Registered Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with APEGA
• 2+ years of experience with budgeting, costing and project control work
• Strong understanding of project management concepts is required
• Ability to self-direct work and function in a team setting
• Excellent time management skills and adept to working in a rapidly changing environment
• Experience using CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred)
• Maximo experience is considered an asset
• Exceptional organizational skills and motivated to improve process efficiencies
• Class 5 Drivers License with no known driving limitations
• Robust interpersonal skills with effective written & oral communication skills
