Your Opportunity: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides safe and effective nursing care according to hospital policies and nursing care standards.

Working within the full scope of practice, the Licensed Practical Nurse observes, monitors, reports, and documents changes in the patients physical, mental, and emotional state, assists the patient with activities of daily living and provides the patient and family with relevant information and teaching.

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible to collaborate as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, delivering consistent quality care, and to meet the needs of the patient.

Description: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Classification: Licensed Practical Nurse Union: AUPE AUX Department: UA-Unit 4A2 Neurosurgery-EDM Primary Location: U of A Hospital Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.70 Posting End Date: 28-JAN-2021 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 07-FEB-2021 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 6 Shifts per cycle: 21 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $26.45 Maximum Salary: $34.63 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
– Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: The candidate must have the physical capability to perform all aspects of the role, including the ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.

Basic computer skills required.

Strong leadership and critical thinking skills, demonstrated by the ability to direct other healthcare workers, problem solve and escalate clinical concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.

The position requires strong communication and organizational skills and must be committed to patient and family centered care.

Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families and team members.

Successful applicants will undergo Neuroscience Orientation Classes.

Upon completion of classes the candidate is required to achieve a minimum pass rate of 80% on the Neurosciences Exam in order to successfully enter the Program.

Responsible to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: 1 to 2 years of Neuroscience experience preferred.
