Cranes Coordinator

Canadian Natural Resources Limited

This is a Contract position in Fort Mcmurray, AB posted May 25, 2023.

The Opportunity:

As a Crane Coordinator reporting to the Site Services Superintendent, this position will be responsible for high quality and timely support to meet the requirements of site operations. You will be responsible for mobile cranes, overhead crane maintenance, and the coordination of multiple contracts as well as Health, Safety and Environment programs. You will also have a working knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. You will display characteristics that instill confidence, and use the appropriate methods to encourage performance to ensure that appropriate duties are carried out.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Fulfill operational activities in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner, by ensuring that all necessary procedures, practices, standards and rules are documented and followed and complete incident investigations as needed
  • Ensure all jobs are set-up for success. Assign jobs on a daily basis and do site visits to ensure tasks are performed safely, with quality, on time and on budget
  • Utilize Maximo to execute work using CNRL AMEE process
  • Maximize equipment and system availability by determining potential hazards and risks to production and developing/implementing work plans required to continually improve availability and integrity
  • Maintain focus on day-to-day short-term requirements while providing input for longer-term growth and continuous improvement
  • Ensure that equipment is operated and maintained with maximum efficiency and productivity by initiating corrective action and ensuring operational, maintenance and engineering standards are adhered to
  • Provide direction and support to contractors in the development of quality work plans for maintenance jobs with the necessary information to allow for the efficient scheduling, assignment, and execution of maintenance work
  • Coordinate resource requirements across the site, working with site customers to identify needs in advance and smooth out resource loading, drive contractor efficiency and minimize contractor numbers

Other Details: 

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands
  • Shift schedule: 7×7 – Wednesday to Tuesday, 12 hours shifts
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out program from Calgary or Edmonton

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED is required along with 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Journeyman Red Seal Crane Operator required
  • Extensive knowledge and background on proper crane hoisting and load setup, rigging, and associated lifting equipment
  • Extensive experience with oil sands & mining operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Maximo experience is considered an asset
