Analyzer Maintenance Technician

The Opportunity:

Are you seeking an opportunity to demonstrate and further develop your Process Analyzers Instrumentation skill set? This is an incredible opening where, as the Maintenance Technician specializing in Process Analyzers, you have the opportunity to contribute to the safety and reliability of equipment that the Upgrading and Utilities department is responsible for. With the support and direction of the Analyzer Lead Hand, this role will become a key technical resource directly supporting Upgrading and Utilities Maintenance, Operations, and Construction groups for Process and Environmental Analyzers.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor and maintain equipment in the Upgrading and Utilities area to ensure safe and efficient equipment and facility operation
  • Provide technical assistance in the troubleshooting of all analytical instrumentation and perform “hands on” work as required
  • Identify and document recurring problems so that an engineered solution can be provided and take proactive measures to address improvement opportunities through the “Management of Change” system
  • Ensure that the work is adequately documented in the CMMS
  • Work in cooperation with the Planning group to scope out routine and major jobs
  • Maintain close contact with plant operations while working in plant areas and follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards and report them promptly

Other Details:

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
  • Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (80 hours per rotation) – Thursday start
  • Eligible for relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Typically 5+ years of related industry experience in the role of Instrument and/or Analyzer Technician in a maintenance environment
  • A Journeyman Instrumentation Technician with inter-provincial status
  • Familiarity with and understanding of:
    • Continuous Emissions Monitoring, along with associated stack sampling and data acquisition systems
    • Analytical Instrumentation techniques including:
    • UV Spectroscopy
    • Infrared
    • Gas Chromatography
    • Steam and Water Chemistry Analyzers
    • Oxygen / Combustibles Analyzers
    • Gas and liquid Analyzer Sample Systems and Methods
  • DCS (preferable Delta V) and PLC systems, along with field architecture and protocols including:
    • Analog
    • ModBus
    • Foundation Fieldbus
    • Hart
