Shift Team Lead, Operations – JPM Extraction

This is a Contract position in Fort Mcmurray, AB posted September 18, 2022.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Operations Plant Lead, the Shift Team Lead is responsible for the supervision and development of Front Line Leaders and Operators in the Bitumen Production Operations organization. You will work together with staff from across the organization to ensure cross functional teams associated with your business unit are aligned and creating value. Internal groups will include but not be limited Bitumen Production Operations Team, Maintenance Team, Reliability Team, Asset Integrity Team, Training Team, Mining, and Finance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with Superintendent and Plant Lead and direct reports in order to manage plant operational issues on a daily basis
  • Driving consistency between operators, maintenance, crews, and units by informing the oncoming shift of pertinent operating conditions
  • Maximize crew performance safely, through training and appropriate matching of employee experience to daily task allocations and priorities
  • Ensure effective inter-field communication and cooperation is achieved by facilitating effective cross training and load levelling of staff in each area
  • Monitor the daily activities of the crew and maintain data integrity
  • Comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by Canadian Natural
  • Work closely with other areas to ensure overall site wide efficiency and compliance

Other Details:

  • Job location: Albian Oil Sands site – Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary and Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: 7×7 – 7 days on, 7 days off (alternating day and night rotations)
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Supervisory experience including 5+ years of experience with Plant Operations or similar type facilities
  • Technical training (technology diploma) would be considered an asset, high school diploma required as a minimum
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and LSS knowledge
  • Set the standard for integrity, safety, and leadership
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
