Senior Business Analyst, Decision Support

JOB POSTING 878068 Position: Senior Analyst, Decision Support (2 positions) Site: LuCliff Place Department: Critical Care Services Ontario Reports to: Manager Hours: 37.5 hours per week Salary: $70,496 to $88,121 per annum Status: Permanent Full-time POSITION: CCSO centrally coordinates and develops integrated system solutions for Ontario critical care and speciality programs aligned with critical care including trauma and neurosurgery.

CCSO’s work is the result of an ongoing collaboration between provincial critical care providers, hospital administrators, partners from the Ministry of Health and other health system leaders.

This role supports CCSO’s efforts to improve access, quality, system integration, and value in the critical care system by leading a team that partners with system leaders to identify key priorities and co-develop policy and programs to address system issues.

Under the direction of the Manager, Critical Care Services Ontario the Senior Analyst, Decision Support, is an integral member of Critical Care Services Ontario team.

This role will work with key stakeholders to build and implement performance measurement and quality improvement initiatives.

This may include indicator and scorecard development and data analysis for reporting (quality improvement, referral path modelling, and other health system improvement projects).

Responsibilities Support a province-wide system for performance measurement and quality improvement for paediatric critical care, neonatal critical care, health human priorities for critical care, and other portfolio areas as assigned.

Analyze provincial health datasets to inform the development of health policies and projects.

Support local, regional, and/or Provincial level committees through analysis, reporting and preparing presentations for management and senior healthcare providers and leaders.

Programming SAS/SQL queries, data visualization (Tableau/Power BI), developing scorecard reports for Senior Leaders at participating organizations, creating technical documentation, conducting data quality investigations and impact assessments, and preparing PowerPoint presentations.

Act as a subject matter expert on information relevant to Critical Care Services and train/educate other participating organizations on how to use and analyze the information in various CCSO deliverables.

Lead stakeholder committees to solicit input and develop performance measurement and quality improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements Education: At minimum, completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Health Services/Information Management, Statistics, Business/Health Administration, Epidemiology or recognized equivalent required.

Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: 2 or more years of experience in healthcare data analysis, including experience preparing analyses of operational, clinical and quality measures, based on data from the Critical Care Information System (CCIS), and datasets from Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), Continuing Care Reporting System (CCRS), National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS), and other large data sets (e.g., Wait Times) is highly desirable.

Familiarity with ICD-10-CA and CCI classifications system is required.

Knowledge of health care reporting requirements (e.g.

MIS guidelines) and funding methodologies, within more than one sector preferred, Experience designing and developing standard and ad hoc reports for both internal and external purposes Advanced SAS programming skills and experience with SAS Macro and SQL is required; Experience with R and Python is an asset Experience with data visualization applications such as power BI/ Tableau is highly desirable Expert level user with MS Office (specifically, Excel, PowerPoint) Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; familiarity with project management methodologies Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills required Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities Adherence to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial and clinical information.
